Kenya Diaspora Voting Action Committee (KDVAC)
Public Group active 1 year ago agoThe right to vote is fundamental constitutional right. Dual citizenship is now enshrined in section 16 of the constitution of Kenya. Voting is not a privilege. The IEBC is bound by law to expedite the registration of all citizens and make arrangements that can enable convenient voting by all citizens. The Kenyan Diaspora cannot be expected to pay huge amounts of money for them to cast their vote. Electronic voting is the most efficient and cost-effective means of ensuring Diaspora votes. There are many options available including absentee postal voting. The compromise is regional voting whereby voting stations are spread out in key regions. Let’s discuss and devise strategies to mobilize MPs, presidential candidates, Diaspora members, human rights organizations and all who are committed to democracy and justice to help overturn the draconian IEBC decision of Embassy voting. Join DVAC to help push the right to vote.
